2008 Caucus Report

The 4th Congressional District caucus on March 4 drew a total of 44 people, representing most of the state senate districts within the east Metro area. Among them were a number of new faces as well as some familiar ones that we had not seen for a while.

Here, as around the state, most interest centered in the straw poll among Green presidential candidates.  According to statewide totals reported to the Secretary of State's office, Cynthia McKinney drew almost 61 per cent of the vote.  (In the 4th District she received 62 per cent.)  The runners-up were "Undecided," at nearly 11 per cent, and Ralph Nader at just over 10 per cent.

If you are a member of the Green Party, you may still submit a presidential ballot by mail to the Green Party of Minnesota. Find out how here: http://www.mngreens.org/caucus2008

Three statewide resolutions were offered.  Those will be sent to the platform committee for discussion at the biennial meeting in June. (Mail-in resolutions will be accepted until March 31.)  One local resolution regarding the Ayd Mill Road will be discussed at the next 4th District membership meeting on April 5.
