If you are filling out a Minnesota income tax form or Minnesota property tax refund or renter's refund form, be sure to check the box for the Green Party under the State Elections Campaign Fund section. It doesn't cost you anything and the Green Party benefits by receiving public funds based on how many people designate a contribution.
Green Party caucus locations are now listed on the Secretary of State's website. Go to http://caucusfinder.sos.state.mn.us/ and enter your zip code or county and street address to find your GP caucus.
We are working to confirm more locations around the state, so if you don't see a caucus for your area, check back again before February 7.

The Green Party of Minnesota stands in solidarity with the 99% -- those people in America who do not have the power and privilege of owning 40% of the nation's wealth.
We support the efforts of OccupyMN and the peaceful encampment on the People's Plaza in Minneapolis, as well as similar occupations nationwide.
We support the "one demand" of Occupied Wall Street:
Ending capital punishment is our one demand.
Ending wealth inequality is our one demand.
Ending police intimidation is our one demand.
Ending corporate censorship is our one demand.
Ending the modern gilded age is our one demand.
Ending political corruption is our one demand.
Ending joblessness is our one demand.
Ending poverty is our one demand.
Ending health-profiteering is our one demand.
Ending American imperialism is our one demand.
Ending war is our one demand.
These demands are consistent with the Green Party's four pillars of Ecological Wisdom, Nonviolence, Social and Economic Justice and Grassroots Democracy. Together let us build a just and sustainable society where people live in harmony with each other and with nature.
The Republican dominated Minnesota State Legislature, in the face of the majority of their constituents’ acceptance of the right of Gays and Lesbians to marry, have voted to put a proposal for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage on the ballot in November 2012. With a law prohibiting same- sex marriage already on the books as the so-called Defense of Marriage Act of 1997, there is no legal justification for such an action and we can only conclude that conservative legislators are once again basing decisions that affect all citizens on their narrow personal moral and religious beliefs. We believe that this clearly contradicts the core principle of separation of church and state held sacred by the very founding fathers these lawmakers claim as role models.
While some Democrats, including Governor Mark Dayton and senator Scott Dibble, who is gay, did speak out publicly against the amendment, there were only 3 ½ hours of debate before the measure passed in the Senate. Once again the two party system has failed to give Minnesotans a voice in fighting the domination of Minnesota politics by officials who are more beholden to special interest groups that to the citizens they were elected to represent.
Since its founding in 1994, the Green Party of Minnesota has supported legalizing marriage for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and trans-gendered people by applying the same standards, requirements, privileges, and responsibilities as applied to different-sexed couples. We urge all Minnesotans to speak out and help Minnesota Greens and other organizations concerned with civil liberties to let their congress people know what a travesty of justice this amendment would represent and to join us in voting “NO” in November 2012. With New York now joining the five other states, Washington, D.C., and the Coquille Indian Tribe in Oregon where gay marriage is legal, and with abolishment of the military policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” we are hopeful that the tide is turning toward full protection of the civil rights of LGBT citizens.
The recent stalemate between the Democratic Governor and Republican controlled legislature in not being able to reach agreement on closing the State’s $5 billion budget deficit is yet another example of the failure of two parties funded by corporate and special interest dollars to represent the people of Minnesota. The Republicans continue to carry forward the failed policies of former governor, Tim Pawlenty, cutting tens of thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for already beleaguered social service, education, and environmental programs, as well as essential local government services, and offering no options for new revenue to replace the resulting losses in consumer discretionary income. At the same time, these policies have filled corporate coffers and continue to contribute to the quadrupling of executive salaries that began in the mid-seventies, compared with a net loss in real income for middle and working class families during the same period.
Instead of putting forward strong progressive policies that give jobs and dollars back to the citizens of Minnesota, Governor Mark Dayton and the Democratic minority have compromised away any opportunity for real economic growth for working and middle-class people by only offering in the 11th hour before the July 1st deadline a paltry $700 million dollar tax increase on the state’s 7,700 millionaires, which doesn’t begin to address the inequities in salaries and benefits for hardworking Minnesotans. Subsequently, the Republican rejection of even this inconsequential attempt to generate a small portion of the revenue required to balance the budget, brought about the shameful state government shutdown that occurred on July 1, 2011. This shutdown was clearly the result of two-party politics as usual that treats ideology as more important than the needs of the people as thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of revenue in both private and state sectors disappeared every day that the two parties played chicken with people’s livelihoods at stake.
The Minnesota Green Party stands for a state economy in which wealth and economic power is distributed fairly among all citizens rather than being concentrated in the hands of its wealthiest, as is the case under the current economic models offered by both Republicans and Democrats. Certainly excesses in spending exist and must be cut; this can be done through rigorously and impartially evaluating all expenditures to assure measurable, demonstrated results. At the same time, most reputable economists recognize that new revenue is also necessary to sustain a balanced budget, and that can be accomplished in part through a progressive tax structure, relying on income and inheritance taxes, that eliminates loopholes that benefit corporations and punish the people who furnish the labor that produces their profits. As is being demonstrated in more progressive states and countries across the world, additional revenue can also be generated by an investment in green energy, education, health care, and transportation infrastructure, money that can be put back into the state budget to create a sustainable surplus for years to come.
The Green Party of Minnesota will be holding caucuses statewide to consider GP presidential candidates (see http://www.gp.org/candidates/index.php) and resolutions.
